ASAS AWATOA HOFU WANANCHI KUHUSU VURUGU ZA UCHAGUZI

MJUMBE wa Kamati Kuu ya Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Taifa, Salim Abri Asas, amewataka wananchi kujitokeza kwa wingi kupiga kura katika Uchaguzi Mkuu wa Oktoba 29, huku akiwatoa hofu juu ya uvumi unaoenezwa mitandaoni kuhusu uwepo wa vurugu siku ya uchaguzi huo.

Asas amesema kumekuwepo na taarifa zisizo sahihi kutoka kwa baadhi ya watu, ndani na nje ya nchi, wanaotumia mitandao ya kijamii kuhamasisha maandamano na kuchochea vurugu ambazo zinaweza kuhatarisha amani na kuathiri zoezi la uchaguzi.

Akihutubia maelfu ya wanachama na wananchi katika mkutano wa kufunga kampeni za CCM Jimbo la Mafinga Mjini, uliofanyika katika kijiji cha Ugute, kata ya Isalavanu, Halmashauri ya Mji Mafinga, Asas aliwahakikishia wananchi kuwa nchi ipo salama na vyombo vya ulinzi na usalama vimejipanga kikamilifu kulinda amani.

“Nataraji katika siku hizi mbili mtajitokeza kwa wingi kupiga kura siku ya Oktoba 29. Msiogope wala kuwa na hofu, amani ipo na kutakuwa na ulinzi wa kutosha. Nchi yetu imetulia — hayo yote ni maneno ya mitaani,” alisema Asas.

Amesisitiza kuwa Tanzania ipo kwenye mikono salama ya vyombo vya ulinzi na usalama, hivyo wananchi wanapaswa kutumia hali hiyo kama motisha wa kushiriki uchaguzi na kutimiza haki yao ya kikatiba.

Kwa upande wake, Mgombea Ubunge wa Jimbo la Mafinga Mjini, Dickson Lutevele maarufu kama Villa, aliwataka wananchi kujitokeza kwa wingi kupiga kura kama ishara ya shukrani kwa Serikali kwa utekelezaji wa miradi mbalimbali ya maendeleo katika eneo hilo.

Aidha, aliwasisitiza wananchi wote—bila kujali itikadi za kisiasa au imani za kidini—kudumisha amani ambayo ndiyo msingi wa maendeleo endelevu.

“Ni imani yangu kuwa Mufindi kwa mara nyingine tena tutaongoza kwa wingi wa kura kukichagua Chama Cha Mapinduzi kama kawaida yetu,” alisema Villa.

Asas urges voters to turn out in large numbers, dismisses election violence fears

 

Iringa. A member of the CCM Central Committee (MCC), Salim Abri Asas, has urged Tanzanians to turn out in large numbers to cast their votes in the upcoming General Election on October 29, assuring them that the country remains peaceful and well-secured.

Mr. Asas dismissed circulating rumours on social media suggesting that there might be violence on election day, saying such claims are being spread by individuals with ill intentions to create fear and discourage voter participation.

He said in recent weeks, there have been coordinated attempts by certain groups, both within and outside the country, to incite youths and other sections of the community to engage in demonstrations and acts that could disrupt peace and affect the election process.

Speaking during a well-attended CCM rally to close the party’s campaigns for Mafinga Urban Constituency, held at Ugute Village in Isalavanu Ward, Mr. Asas assured citizens that the security organs are fully prepared to maintain order and safety throughout the election period.

“I expect all of you to turn out in large numbers to vote on October 29. Do not be afraid or worried — peace prevails, and there will be enough security everywhere. Our country is calm; those stories are just rumours,” said Asas.

He added that Tanzania is in safe hands under its security institutions, urging citizens to take advantage of the prevailing peace to fulfil their constitutional right to vote.

On his part, Dickson Lutevele, popularly known as Villa, who is vying for the Mafinga Urban parliamentary seat, expressed confidence that residents will show up in large numbers to vote as a sign of appreciation for the government’s development efforts in the area.

He emphasized that regardless of political affiliation or religious belief, citizens should prioritize peace, which he described as the foundation of inclusive and sustainable development.

“I strongly believe that once again, Mufindi will lead with overwhelming votes in favour of the CCM, as has always been our tradition,” said Villa.

MUCE IMPLEMENTS SH18.6 BILLION PROJECT IN HONOUR OF FATHER OF THE NATION’S VISION

Iringa. As Tanzania marks 26 years since the passing of the Father of the Nation, Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere — a passionate advocate for education — Mkwawa University College of Education (MUCE), a constituent college of the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), continues to successfully implement the Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) Project worth over Sh18.6 billion.

Speaking to journalists in Iringa, MUCE Principal Prof Method Samwel Semiono said the project, implemented by the government through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, aims to reform the higher education system so it can directly contribute to the country’s economic transformation.

“The five-year project (2021/2022–2025/2026) is funded by the World Bank and focuses on curriculum improvement, infrastructure development, human resource capacity building, inclusive education and gender equality, as well as promoting the use of ICT and digital learning,” explained Prof Semiono.

He noted that through the HEET project, MUCE has made remarkable progress, including reviewing five old programmes and introducing 30 new curricula in various disciplines such as science, technology, education, and innovation. The development, he said, is expected to increase student enrolment from 5,000 to 10,000, thereby widening access to higher education.

In terms of infrastructure, the college has received over Sh15.2 billion for the construction of four major buildings: a two-storey student hostel with a capacity of more than 152 students, a physics laboratory, a multimedia and special education building with facilities to support students with disabilities, and a modern science block.

“These new facilities will enable the college to admit more than 4,000 additional students, expanding opportunities for higher education among Tanzanians,” said Prof Semiono.

Mr Dickson Mwipopo, Managing Director of Dimetoclasa Realhope Ltd — the main contractor implementing the projects in partnership with Mponela Construction Company Ltd — commended the government for entrusting local firms with major national projects.

“We appreciate the government’s confidence in local contractors. This project has created numerous job opportunities for Iringa residents and boosted the local economy,” said Mwipopo.

Geofrey Ngelime, Manager of the Estates and Works Management Unit at MUCE, said the HEET project plays a significant role in achieving Tanzania’s Development Vision 2050, which aims to build a skilled and innovative human resource base capable of driving the nation’s economic growth.

“Through this project, MUCE is directly contributing to the production of graduates equipped with skills relevant to current technological and scientific changes,” said Ngelime.

On his part, Mussa Mgema, President of the MUCE Students’ Government (DARUSO-MUCE), said the improvements brought by the HEET project have greatly benefited students, particularly in addressing accommodation challenges.

“Many students were previously forced to rent off-campus housing, which was often unsafe. With the new hostels, students will now have safer and more convenient accommodation,” said Mgema.

Prof Semiono also took the opportunity to urge Tanzanians to turn out in large numbers and exercise their right to vote in the upcoming general election scheduled for October 29 this year, emphasising the importance of choosing leaders who prioritise development.

The HEET project reflects the government’s continued commitment to preserving and advancing Mwalimu Nyerere’s vision of ensuring access to quality education for all Tanzanians as a key driver of national development.

 

Tanzania Marks International Day Of The Girl Child With A Call To Protect And Empower Girls

Iringa. Tanzania has joined other nations around the world in marking the climax of the International Day of the Girl Child, commemorated every year on October 11, with stakeholders, human rights advocates, and various organisations emphasising the importance of protecting and empowering girls to achieve sustainable development.

Speaking during the commemoration held in Iringa, Benson Lwakatare, Project Officer from SOS Children’s Villages Tanzania, said the organisation has been at the forefront of advocating for children’s rights and protection by implementing programmes that support girls who became pregnant at a young age to continue pursuing their dreams.

“This day is important to us because it gives us an opportunity to remind the world that challenges facing girls—especially teenage pregnancies—should not be barriers to development. Through collaboration with the government, we have managed to return more than 33 girls to school through the re-entry policy, and some have successfully completed their secondary education,” said Lwakatare.

He added that SOS works closely with departments of community development, social welfare, and education to ensure that these girls receive a second chance to learn and improve their livelihoods.

One of the beneficiaries of the Binti Bora (Better Girl) project, Sarafina Sanga, said she regained hope through the support of SOS after dropping out of school due to pregnancy.

“I received training in entrepreneurship, parenting, and business start-up capital. I now run a cosmetics and bodaboda business and have employed two young people. This day is very special to me because it gives me a platform to inspire other girls to value education and believe in themselves,” said Sanga.

For his part, Iringa Regional Commissioner, Kheri James, who officiated the event, said society must recognise the value of the girl child as a gift from God and create a safe environment for her to grow and thrive.

“The girl child is the mother of tomorrow, the future wife, and a professional who will contribute to the development of our community. Therefore, protecting the girl child is a collective responsibility—not the government’s alone,” said RC James.

The International Day of the Girl Child was established by the United Nations in 2011 and first observed on October 11, 2012. Its main goal is to promote gender equality, safeguard the rights of girls, and expand opportunities in education, health, employment, and overall development.

OVER 500 PARTICIPANTS EXPECTED AT NATIONAL EDUCATION SYMPOSIUM IN IRINGA

 

 
Iringa. More than 500 participants from various sectors — including education, government, the private sector, religious institutions, NGOs, small, medium, and large-scale entrepreneurs, as well as media houses — are expected to attend a major national academic symposium to be held in Iringa.

Speaking to journalists today, October 7, 2025, the Secretary of the Organising Committee, Mauna Chuma Belius, who also serves as the Head of Communications at Ruaha Catholic University (RUCU), said the event has been organised jointly by RUCU and the Public–Private Partnership Centre (PPPC), on behalf of the university’s Vice Chancellor.

 

He said the symposium will take place on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the RUCU Main Hall, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., under the theme:
“The National Development Vision 2050 and Inclusive Economy: Where We Are and Where We Are Going.”

Iringa Regional Commissioner Calls On Kilolo Leaders To Strictly Supervise Government Projects

IRINGA – The Iringa Regional Commissioner, Kheri James, has urged leaders of the Kilolo District Council—particularly those in the secondary education, engineering, and procurement departments—to exercise diligence and professionalism in supervising government projects to ensure they bring real benefits to citizens.

Mr James made the remarks yesterday during an inspection tour of development projects in the district, including the construction of two dormitories for A-Level students at Ifingo Secondary School in Kising’a Ward, Kilolo Division through Secondary Education Quality Improvement Project for Tanzania (SEQUIP).

SEQUIP is to increase access to secondary education, provide responsive learning environments for girls, and improve completion of quality secondary education for girls and boys. .

During the visit, the Regional Commissioner expressed dissatisfaction with both the pace and the supervision of the project after finding that, despite the release of funds through SEQUIP, one dormitory remained incomplete.

“I am not satisfied with the supervision of these dormitories. The funds have not been used appropriately and some of the structures are already falling into disrepair. We will not tolerate anyone who misuses government money,” Mr James stressed.

He further noted that Kilolo District has lagged behind in implementing social projects due to poor supervision, lack of professionalism in engineering and procurement, and delays that leave residents without essential services.

“Every project in Kilolo is scrutinised by TAMISEMI and TAKUKURU, yet challenges remain enormous. This is sheer negligence, which is unacceptable, because this district has sufficient economic potential,” he added emphatically.

In the same tour, the Regional Commissioner also inspected other projects, including Nyalumbu Health Centre, Iringa Regional Girls’ School (Lugalo Girls’ High School), Kilolo Secondary School, Lukosi Secondary School, and Ruahambuyuni Health Centre.

CALL TO IRINGA RESIDENTS

Meanwhile, Mr James called on residents of Magulilwa Ward, Mlolo Division, Iringa District, to safeguard the infrastructure of Mlanda Health Centre so that it can continue to provide quality services for years to come.

He stressed that the success of development projects depends not only on government and experts but also on the active participation of the community in protecting and maintaining them.

“This centre belongs to all citizens. It is our responsibility to protect it from any form of damage. We require strong oversight from professionals as well as cooperation from the community,” said the Regional Commissioner.

He also urged council experts to discharge their duties with professionalism and integrity, ensuring that value for money is visible in every project undertaken.

The visit formed part of the Iringa Regional Government’s strategy to closely monitor the implementation of development projects and guarantee that essential services such as education and healthcare reach citizens at the expected standards.

RC IRINGA ATAKA VIONGOZI KILOLO WASIMAMIE KIKAMILIFU MIRADI YA SERIKALI

RC James alitoa kauli hiyo jana baada ya kutembelea na kukagua miradi mbalimbali ya maendeleo wilayani humo, ikiwemo ujenzi wa mabweni mawili ya wanafunzi wa kidato cha tano na sita katika Shule ya Sekondari Ifingo, Kata ya Kising’a, Tarafa ya Kilolo, kupitia mradi kuboresha mazingira elimu sekondari (SEQUIP).

Katika ukaguzi huo, Mkuu wa Mkoa hakuridhishwa na kasi ya utekelezaji pamoja na usimamizi wa mradi huo, baada ya kubaini kuwa licha ya fedha kutolewa, bweni moja bado halijakamilika.

“Sijaridhishwa na usimamizi wa ujenzi wa mabweni haya. Fedha hazijatumika ipasavyo na baadhi ya majengo yamebaki magofu. Hatutamvumilia mtu yeyote atakayechezea fedha za serikali,” alisisitiza RC James.

Amesema Wilaya ya Kilolo imekuwa ya mwisho katika utekelezaji wa miradi ya kijamii kutokana na upungufu wa usimamizi, ukosefu wa weledi katika uhandisi na manunuzi, hali inayosababisha miradi mingi kuchelewa kukamilika huku wananchi wakikosa huduma stahiki.

“Kila mradi Kilolo unachunguzwa na TAMISEMI, TAKUKURU, lakini bado changamoto ni kubwa. Huu ni uzembe usiokubalika kwa kuwa wilaya hii ina uwezo wa kiuchumi wa kutosha,” aliongeza kwa msisitizo.

Katika ziara hiyo, RC James alikagua pia miradi mingine ikiwemo Kituo cha Afya Nyalumbu, Shule ya Wasichana ya Mkoa wa Iringa (Lugalo Girls High School), Shule ya Sekondari Kilolo, Shule ya Sekondari Lukosi na Kituo cha Afya Ruahambuyuni.

Aidha, aliwataka wataalamu wa halmashauri zote kuhakikisha wanatekeleza majukumu yao kwa weledi na uadilifu, sambamba na kuhakikisha thamani ya fedha inaonekana kwenye kila mradi unaotekelezwa.

“Kile tulichokiahidi tumetekeleza kwa asilimia kubwa. Ndiyo maana tunaomba ridhaa ya miaka mitano mingine ili tuendelee pale tulipoishia. Wapo wagombea wa vyama vingine waliokimbia uchaguzi kwa kuhofia kura za wananchi,” alisema.

Aliongeza kuwa Rais na Mgombea Urais wa CCM, Dk. Samia Suluhu Hassan, amefanya mambo makubwa kwa taifa kwa muda mfupi.
“Utekelezaji wa ilani unaonekana kwa vitendo. Tunawaomba mjitokeze kumpa kura za kishindo ili aendelee kutuletea maendeleo,” alisema.

Kwa upande wake, Mgombea Ubunge wa Iringa Mjini, Fadhili Ngajilo, aliahidi kushughulikia haraka miradi inayosubiri utekelezaji.
“Nitafuatilia kwa karibu kuanza kazi kwa Kituo cha Afya Kitwiru, ujenzi wa daraja la Kitwiru linalounganisha Kata ya Isakalilo, na nitapigania ujenzi wa soko jipya la mazao,” alisema Ngajilo huku akiomba wananchi kumpa kura.

Ngajilo pia aliahidi kushirikiana na mamlaka husika kutatua changamoto za maji na kuimarisha mikopo kwa makundi mbalimbali.
“Naomba wananchi wa Iringa Mjini mnipatie ushirikiano na kura zenu. Tukishirikiana, maendeleo ya jimbo letu yataharakishwa,” alisema.

Naye Mwenyekiti wa CCM Wilaya ya Iringa, Said Rubeya, alikumbusha wananchi kuhusu miradi iliyotekelezwa.
“Shule ya Msingi Uyole, Sekondari ya Kwavava na Kituo cha Afya Kitwiru ni miongoni mwa ahadi zilizotekelezwa. Sasa tunakuja tena na ahadi mpya za maendeleo kwa miaka mitano ijayo,” alisema Rubeya.

Kwa upande wake, Mgombea Udiwani wa Kata ya Kitwiru, Rahim Kapufi, aliahidi kuwasemea wananchi ndani ya baraza la madiwani.

Iringa. Mgombea Ubunge wa Jimbo la Kalenga kupitia Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), ameomba wananchi wa kata ya Lyamgungwe, Wilaya ya Iringa, kumpa tena ridhaa ya kuendelea kulitumikia jimbo hilo katika uchaguzi mkuu unaotarajiwa kufanyika Oktoba 29, mwaka huu.

Akizungumza na wananchi na wanachama wa CCM wakati wa kampeni, mgombea huyo alisema kipindi cha miaka mitano iliyopita kilikuwa cha kujifunza, huku akieleza kuwa endapo atapewa nafasi nyingine, ataendeleza miradi ya maendeleo aliyoianzisha.

Alibainisha kuwa moja ya changamoto zinazowakabili wananchi ni ukosefu wa vyumba vya kuhifadhi maiti katika vituo vya afya, na kuahidi kushirikiana na Serikali kuhakikisha kila kituo kinakuwa na huduma hiyo ili kupunguza gharama za kupeleka maiti katika Hospitali ya Tosamaganga.

“Yanga ni bingwa wa kweli, tutathibitisha uwanjani kwamba tunastahili kubeba tena taji la Ligi Kuu,” alisema Boniface Makunga, mwenyekiti wa tawi la Yanga Manispaa ya Iringa.

Zaidi ya tambo na ushindani wa uwanjani, mashabiki hao walibainisha kuwa tukio hilo litakuwa na manufaa ya kiuchumi kwa wakazi wa Iringa kupitia biashara ndogondogo zitakazoibuka kutokana na ujio wa mashabiki kutoka ndani na nje ya mkoa.

 

SALIM ABRI (ASAS) AIZINDUA KAMPENI ZA CCM KILOLO, AMTANGAZA DR. RITTA KABATI

Mjumbe wa Kamati Kuu ya CCM Taifa (MCC) na Mratibu wa Kampeni Kanda ya Nyanda za Juu Kusini, Salim Abri maarufu kama Asas, leo amezindua rasmi kampeni za Mgombea Ubunge wa Jimbo la Kilolo pamoja na wagombea wa nafasi za udiwani kupitia CCM katika jimbo hilo.

Mgombea Ubunge wa Kilolo, Dr. Ritta Kabati, ndiye mwanamke pekee kati ya wagombea wa majimbo saba ya ubunge mkoani Iringa kupitia CCM. Akizungumza wakati wa uzinduzi huo, Dr. Kabati aliishukuru CCM kwa kuendelea kumuamini na kumpa jukumu la kupeperusha bendera ya chama, akisisitiza kuwa uzoefu wake wa miaka 15 kama Mbunge wa Viti Maalum umemwandaa vyema kuwatumikia wananchi wa Kilolo kwa bidii, uadilifu na upendo.

Ameahidi kutekeleza kikamilifu Ilani ya CCM 2025–2030 bila upendeleo, huku akihimiza mshikamano kati ya viongozi na wananchi, kuvunja makundi ya kijamii na kisiasa, na kuharakisha maendeleo ya jimbo hilo. Aliwaomba wananchi kumpigia kura yeye, Rais Samia Suluhu Hassan na madiwani wote wa CCM.

Kwa upande wake, Salim Abri (Asas) alisema Dr. Kabati si mgeni katika uongozi, akibainisha kuwa Kilolo imepata mgombea mwanamke mwenye maono, uzoefu na uwezo wa kushughulikia changamoto za wananchi. Alisisitiza kuwa Dr. Kabati amejikita katika kupigania huduma bora za afya, upatikanaji wa maji, kupambana na rushwa, na kusaidia makundi maalum kama watu wenye ulemavu.

Aidha, Abri alitaja baadhi ya mafanikio yaliyopatikana Kilolo chini ya Serikali ya Awamu ya Sita, yakiwemo ujenzi wa vituo vya afya vitano, zahanati kumi, vyumba vya madarasa 493, vyoo 352, miradi ya maji safi, pamoja na shule ya sekondari ya wasichana ya mkoa. Alisema mafanikio hayo ni ushahidi wa utekelezaji bora wa ilani ya CCM unaoendelea kuleta matokeo chanya kwa wananchi.

Mwenyekiti wa CCM Wilaya ya Kilolo, John Kiteve, alisema wananchi wa Kilolo wako tayari kuiunga mkono CCM kwa kura zote, akibainisha kuwa ilani ya mwaka 2020–2025 imetekelezwa kwa mafanikio makubwa katika sekta mbalimbali, huku ilani ya 2025–2030 ikilenga zaidi kutatua changamoto za wananchi na kuboresha maisha yao.
