A MAN LOST HIS THREE FINGERS ON HIS RIGHT HAND

One resident of Mpitimbi Village in Songea Rural, Ruvuma Region, Herman Hamis (41) has lost his three fingers on his right hand yesterday during the road accident occurred about 5km before reaching  Mpitimbi Village.
The accident involved a passenger bus and motorbike, and there were more than 40 passengers onboard of which eleven pepole were injures and four seriously and admitted St. Joseph Mission Hospital Peramiho in Songea.

More than eleven people have been injured and four others seriously and hospitalized at Peramiho Mission Hospital after the bus with registration number T 516 ASH they were traveling in overturned near Mpitimbi Village about 5 km before reaching the village in Songea Rural, Ruvuma Region.


One of the injures, Herman Haule , 41, a resident of Mpitimbi Village and general worker at Mpitimbi Secondary School has lost his three fingers on his right hand in the accident and is admitted in the Male Surgical Ward at Peramiho Hospital.


Herman told this blog today that he was coming from Songea Town where went for official duties to his village because he is general worker at mentioned above secondary school, before he met with his accident.


He said that he was brought to hospital unconsciously but explained that saw the accident happening before he could lose his thinking and said the motorist was the source of accident.


“We started our journey going the village Mpitimbi about 15 km from Songea Town yesterday at around 14:30 hrs which was not usual departing time that bus… but when we reached the certain area  about 5 km before reaching our village I head a very bang noise and eventually the bus was down…” he explained with difficult as he is nursing his wounds in hospital bed.


Another victim of the accident, Mrs. Cosmas Mapunda also the  resident of Mpitimbi Village and a teacher at Mpitimbi Primary School, who sustained some injuries in her chest pains and possibly internal injuries said she seated on left side of bus but eventually she found herself laying next the driver  seat after the bus fall down during the accident.


The driver of the bus, Hamis Abdullah ran away after the accident for fear of his life and the police  and the owner of the bus 'Chioneka Trans'are still looking for him.


However, Dr. Venance Mushi who is the Doctor- In- Charge of St. Joseph Mission Hospital Peramiho confirmed to have received the injuries at his hospital on Tuesday evening.


He said their about eleven of them and some were treated and discharged but four of the passengers are still at the hospital, three females and one male and their condition were doing fine.


Ruvuma Region Police Commander, Michael Kamuhanda confirmed the accident and said it was not fatal one; it involved a passenger bus and motorbike.


RPC noted the both bus driver and motorist were suspected of speeding, adding that the  bus driver is at large but police have launched a manhunt to bring him to book together motorbike driver.


The Bus was carrying more 40 passengers onboard belonging to Chioneka Trans of Songea Municipality, was heading to Mpitimbi Village which is about 15km from Songea Town, before ti was overturned near Mpitimbi Village when the driver lost control of his  steering wheel has he was trying to avoid head-on collision with the motorbike which was coming from the opposite direction.


According to eyewitnesses, overspending bus was trying to avoid to motorist who believed to a soldier from Chabruma Barracks in Songea Rural, but went off the road and overturned and slept on the driver's side leaving several passengers injured some badly.


Some of the injured passengers were rushed to St. Joseph Mission Hospital at Peramiho in Songea Rural, Ruvuma Region were they still receiving medical attention.
