Regional Commissioner (RC), Said Mwambungu has hailed the members of the media
for empowering people through information and education, hence social and
economic development in the region.

Mwambungu made the statement during the annual general meeting of the Ruvuma
Press Club (RPC) held in the under construction municipal hall on Saturday
where he officiated.
He said
that it is the media has made it all things possible in the region through
empowering the society with information and education on developmental issues,
adding that if the media is used well can bring about development in the
society.
But, if the same media is misused, it has the
potential of bringing chaos in society, for this reason leads to disintegration
of peace and tranquility in the region and the country as whole.
“When the
society or country has no peace and harmony, everyone will be affected
including the members of the media. I urged you journalists to to take precautions
whenever reporting or broadcasting as well verifying the source of information
before made it for public consumption…” RC Mwambungu urged.
In his long
speech full of many advices, praises and precautions to the journalists in the
region, RC Mwambungu said the government is ready to work with the media,
adding that his office also ready to work together with the media, hence team
spirit.
The RC, who
was accompanied by Songea District Commissioner, Joseph Mkilikiti, Songea
Municipal District Executive Director (DED) Zacharia Nachoa and the Town Mayor,
Charles Mhagama insisted that, to counter the negative treads we need to
re-assert solidarity.
”We need to
re-establish a basic of common purpose and security for all: people, families,
communities and country at large,” he insisted.
In another
development, Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC) regional correspondent,
Gerson Msigwa has urged members of press club in Ruvuma Region to opportunity
to further their education, because their some members club have small certificate or not.
He advised
fellow journalits to take advantage of Saint Augustine University of Tanzania
(SAUT) Songea branch and apply for advanced certificate program in journalism
that the university is offering hence advance your professionalism.
