IRINGA REGION HAS SHORTFALL OF 1,581 TEACHERS

IRINGA Region have shortage of 1,581 teachers both in primary and secondary public schools, it has been learned.

In the primary deficit is 984 teachers and secondary schools is a shortfall of 597 teachers in science subjects.

According to the Iringa Regional Education Officer, Richard Mfugale during the celebration of the Week of Education for the year 2017, the celebration was used to give a new impetus in the development of education, especially the strengthening of the competence of the basics of Reading, Writing and Numeracy.

Furthermore, education officer said that the number of teachers in public secondary schools in the region is a total of 3,390 teachers of whom 837 are teachers of science subjects and 2,553 teachers are the  for art subjects.

While the number of teachers in government primary schools in the region the region need to have 6,240 teachers, 5,256 existing teachers and 984 teachers are deficient.

Mfugale also said in order to improve the teaching and learning of science subjects in secondary schools, a total of 321 laboratory rooms are needed.

In terms of school teachers’ homes he said the region needs 2,880 but 559 houses are available and existing pit latrines are 2,174 compared to 2,679 requirements.

The guest of honor at the climax of a week of reading in Iringa Region was the Mufindi District Commissioner, Jamhuri William on behalf of Iringa Regional Commissioner Amina Masenza which started on 19.05.2017 and ended on 05.25.2017 regionally at MAFINGA Town Council Iringa Region, where all district councils participated fully after having conducted the celebrations at council level.

He said the celebration of the Week of Education for 2017 was deliberately used to give a new momentum in promoting education, particularly the strengthening of the competence of the basics of Reading, Writing and Numeracy.

William said that present government under leadership of President Dr. John Pombe Magufuli makes a concerted effort to ensure that education improved by removing some unnecessary contributions to the implementation of Free Education.

The theme this year says: "The best teaching skills of reading, writing and arithmetic is based on the knowledge, skills and development of education in achieving industrial economy".

Mkoa wa Iringa una upungufu wa walimu 1,581 katika shule za msingi na sekondari kwa shule za Serikali, imefahamika. 

Katika shule za msingi upungufu ni walimu 984 na shule za sekondari ni upungufu wa walimu 597 katika masomo ya sayansi. 

Hayo yalielezwa hivi karibuni na Afisa Elimu Mkoa wa Iringa, Richard Mfugale wakati wa Maadhimisho ya Wiki ya Elimu kwa mwaka 2017, yanakusudia kutumika kutoa msukumo mpya katika kuendeleza elimu hasa uimarishaji wa umahiri wa misingi ya Kusoma, Kuandika na Kuhesabu (KKK). 

Aidha afisa elimu huyo alisema kuwa Idadi ya walimu katika Shule za Sekondari za Serikali Mkoa ni jumla ya walimu 3,390 kati ya hao Walimu 837 ni walimu wa sayansi na walimu 2,553 ni wa masomo ya sanaa. 

Wakati idadi ya walimu katika Shule za Msingi za Serikali, mkoa unahitaji kuwa na walimu 6,240, waliopo ni walimu 5,256 na upungufu ni walimu 984. 

Mfugale pia alisema ili kuboresha ufundishaji na ujifunzaji wa masomo ya sayansi katika shule za sekondari, jumla ya vyumba vya maabara 321 vinahitajika. 

Kwa upande wa nyumba za walimu shule za serikali alisema zilizopo ni 559 mahitaji ni nyumba 2,880 na matundu ya vyoo yaliyopo ni 2,174 ikilinganishwa na mahitaji ya matundu 2679. 

Mgeni rasmi katika kilele cha maadhimisho ya wiki ya kusoma kwa Mkoa wa IRINGA alikuwa Mkuu wa Wilaya wa Mufindi, Jamhuri William kwa niaba ya Mkuu wa Mkoa wa Iringa Amina Masenza ambayo yalianza tarehe 19/05/2017 na kuihitimishwa kimkoa tarehe 25/05/2017 katika Halmashauri ya Mji wa MAFINGA ambapo Halmashauri zote za Mkoa wa Iringa zilishiriki kikamilifu baada ya kuwa zimefanya maadhimisho hayo katika ngazi ya Halmashauri. 

Alisema Maadhimisho ya Wiki ya Elimu kwa mwaka 2017 yalikusudia kutumika kutoa msukumo mpya katika kuendeleza elimu, hasa uimarishaji wa umahiri wa misingi ya Kusoma, Kuandika na Kuhesabu (KKK). 

Masenza alisema kuwa serikali ya Awamu ya Tano chini ya Uongozi wa Rais Dr. John Pombe Magufuli inafanya juhudi za dhati za kuhakikisha kuwa elimu inaboreshwa na kuondoa baadhi ya michango isiyo ya lazima kwa utekelezaji wa Elimu bila Malipo. 

Kaulimbiu mwaka huu inasema: “Ufundishaji bora wa stadi za kusoma, kuandika na kuhesabu ni msingi wa maarifa, ujuzi na maendeleo ya elimu katika kufikia uchumi wa viwanda”.
