KILOLO: SHIRIKA la kuhudumia viwanda vidogovidogo (SIDO) Mkoa wa Iringa katika kuunga juhudi za serikali ya awamu ya tano katika kupambana na wimbi la umasikini limekikopesha kikundi cha Upendo IR Vicoba cha Kijiji cha Mtandika kiasi cha shilingi milioni kumi na tatu na laki tatu (13.3m/-) kwa ajili ya kuweza kuwasaidia kuendesha shughuli za kilimo. 

Akizungumza na viongozi na wajumbe wa kikundi hicho cha wakulima kilichopo wilayani Kilolo, katika hafla fupi ya kukabidhi cheki ya fedha iliyofanyika katika Kijiji cha Mtandika, Kata ya Ruaha-Mbuyuni, Ofisa Mikopo wa SIDO Mkoa wa Iringa Neserian Laizer alisema kuwa wamekikopesha kikundi cha wakulima ili kuwainua kiuchumi na kuleta mabadiliko chanya ya kimaendeleo. 

Ofisa mikopo huyo alisema kwamba wamebaini katika maeneo mengi ya vijiji kuna fursa nyingi zilizopo katika zao la kitunguu lakini baadhi ya wakulima wanashindwa kutimiza malengo yao waliyojiwekea kutokana na kukosa mtaji wa fedha. 

“ …hivyo wakiwezeshwa wataweza kutumia fursa zilizopo za kilimo kwenye maeneo yao ili kuleta mabadiliko chanya ya kukuza uchumi,” alisema Laizer. 

Naye Ofisa Biashara wa Sido Niko Mahinya aliongeza kuwa Shirika hilo lengo lake kubwa ni kuwasaidia fedha za mitaji wakulima ili waweze kujiendeleza zaidi sambamba na kuwajengea uwezo wa wakuzalisha kitunguu katika ubora unaotakiwa pamoja kuwatafutia masoko. 

Kwa upande wake Mwenyekiti wa Kikundi cha wakulima cha Upendo IR Vicoba kilichopo katika kijiji cha Mtandika Salama Maulidi Chowanga alilipongeza shirika la Sido kwa kuwapatia mkopo huo licha ya kukabiliwa na changamoto ya soko la zao la kitunguu. 

Mwenyekiti huyo alisema kwamba wanakundi ambao wamepatiwa mikopo wanaitumia kwa malengo yaliyokusudiwa pamoja na kuhakikisha wanachama wanarejesha mkopo kwa wakati. 

Naye katibu wa kikundi Zamoyoni Zigo alisema kuwa kikundi cha kinajumla ya wanachama 30 lakini waliopatiwa mikopo ni wanachama 29, mmoja walikosa mkopo kutokana na matatizo ya kifamilia.

RMO HAILS MEWATA FOR INCREASING KNOWLEDGE ON SRH&R IN SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES

THE Iringa region health sector has expressed gratitude towards youth empowerment sexual reproductive health and rights (SRH&R) in secondary schools, colleges and universities in the region also known as “KIJANA AMKA” project implemented by MEWATA.

The Medical Women Association of Tanzania (MEWATA) is affiliated to the Medical Women International Association and Medical Association of Tanzania. MEWATA is comprised of Tanzania women who are medical and dental. 

Iringa Regional Medical Officer, Dr Robert Salim, made the statement during the MEWATA project insemination meeting held in Iringa region yesterday.

He said the project has increased access and delivery of quality of sexual and reproductive health and right information and education among youth aged 15-24, who are in secondary schools, colleges and universities.

Dr Salim also said the project helped increase linkages and utilization of quality youth friendly services among youth aged 15-24 who are in secondary schools, colleges and universities in Iringa municipality and Iringa district, Iringa region.

He said that Iringa region is currently facing the problem of rape and gender based violence (GBV) issues adding that project will help reduce such problems because the youth have increased knowledge on sexual and reproductive health and right.

According to MEWATA Director Dr Joyce Lymo, “KIJANA AMKA” project period was January-October 2017 but it was extended to January 2018.

She said that the project expected results were to see that youth have increased knowledge on sexual and reproductive health and right, increase access to youth friendly services whenever it is needed and also to increase number of health facilities that provide youth friendly services as any other services.

Dr Lymo mentioned the schools and colleges involved including four secondary schools- Kalenga, Kidamali, Ifunda Tech and Isimani in Iringa District Council.

In Iringa Muncipal Council, Lugalo and Iringa Girls secondary schools, Kleruu, Ruaha, CDTI, RETCO Business college, VETA, and Mkwawa University.

She added the Iringa University and Ruaha Catholic University (RUCU) were selected but implementation was not done.

However, Dr Lymo mentioned some challenges they faced during the implementation of “KIJANA AMKA” project including lack of information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials in health facilities, inadequate health care providers to provide youth friendly services and some of the training institutions defaulted due religious grounds.

Mtatifi kutoka shirika kimataifa la Follow The Honey Inc. la Marekani, Brian Woerner (kulia) akitatifi maua ambayo yanaweza kutumiwa na nyuki kuzalisha asali kwa wingi zaidi wakati alipotembelea maeneo mbalimbali yatakayotumika katika ufugaji nyuki wilayani Kilolo mkoani Iringa kwa kushirikiana na shirika la Namaingo Business Agency la Iringa region mkoani jana. Wa pili kulia ni Mkurugenzi wa Follow The Honey Tanzania , Kaizirage Camala akiambatana na baadhi ya viongozi wa kikundi cha ufugaji nyuki cha nguvukazi ambao ni Remmy Sanga na Mrema wilayani humo jana.
