IRINGA: Police in Iringa Region says they will counter all acts of crime towards the festive period of Christmas and New Year and warned that people should never dare to make a mess.
Speaking to the Guardian today (Tuesday) Iringa Regional Police Commander (RPC), Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Julius Mjengi said that he has build up his police force to deal with all criminal acts.
He said that in this festival period towards the Christmas and New Year, the police force gives attention to all people to be careful and take appropriate measures and urgent to provide information when they see indicators of any crime in their neighborhood and various sections including business areas and houses of worship.
It should be noted that the people with Christian faith worship during Christmas at the same time that they remember the birth of Jesus Christ.
Experience has shown that some people use the holiday period as a loophole to make crimes.
But the Police Force is well prepared in conjunction with other security organs to ensure that all citizens can celebrate the holidays in peace and tranquility, without any indicators to acts or breach of the peace, RPC said.
He said that police patrols all areas will strengthened, adding that they will also track all trends crimes and catch all the people who will incite, encourage and participate in crime, violence and confusion.
"As we celebrate Christmas and the New Year, I ask the people in the region to cooperate with the police to ensure safety and security in the region are prevailed and make sure all those who commit crimes are arrested…," said RPC Mjengi.
He said that police also provide security to houses of worship and urge believers to cooperate with the army, hence reduction of crime in the region.
In another development, police has prohibited acts of burning tires, speeding cars while and fireworks.
The armed forces said it would provide people with security during the celebrating of two days of Christmas and New Year in peace and calmness atmosphere.
