MISA - TAN TO TRAIN REGIONAL JOURNALISTS ON INTERNET

The Media Institute of Southern Africa, Tanzania Chapter (MISA - TAN)
in collaboration with VIKES (Finnish Foundation for Media and
Development) is expecting to organize a three-day workshop on Internet
Training for  journalists in Ruvuma Region from 14 – 16th August, 2013
at VETA, Songea, it has been confirmed.

The training will draw together 14 participants from newspapers,
radio, television and the press club from Ruvuma Region.

According to the statement issued yesterday by the Acting National
Director, Andrew Marawiti, the training will focus on how to
effectively make use of the internet in modern journalism for fact-
finding, news monitoring, communication and publication, IT Security
and professionalism with the purpose of creating balanced and critical
high quality journalism for any media.

 The training will also explain how internet and digital media have
changed the world of communication and media.

However, Marawiti stressed that due to the nature of training, the
participants will be required to devote their time sitting in front of
a computer under instruction of a trainer.

“It is important that you have enough time to be in the training room
the whole day as this is a very practical workshop (learning by
doing),” reads part of the statement.
