The Dar es Salaam based hunting company Best Luxury Safaris has donated 500 pockets of cement to NALIKA Wildlife Management Area (WMA), which is part of the 4,000 cement bags the hunting company is expected to the ten villages together with 59m/-(59 million shillings) as Tourism Hunting Fees for Supporting development Projects.
According to Ramadhan Hussein Best Luxury Safaris company Manager, they have decided to provide support to the villages so that people can see the benefits of wildlife conservation and other natural resources including elephants.
He said yesterday that NALIKA Wildlife Management Area of Tunduru District in Ruvuma Region, comprised of 10 villages surrounding the Selous and Sasawala game reserves, is a wildlife corridor from the Niassa Game Reserve in northern Mozambique one of the most pristine wilderness areas in Africa.
The Selous – Niassa Wildlife Corridor provides a significant biological link between the two reserves and consequently for the Miombo woodland eco-system, thus conserving one of the largest elephant ranges in the world containing also approximately 13% of the world’s remaining wild dog population.
'This is a great honor for the Villages around the Selous and Sasawala game reserves to see the benefits of protecting wildlife against poaching via their Nalika Community Wildlife Conservation," said Ramadhan Hussein.
NALIKA Wildlife Management Area Secretary Mohamed Yasin in Matemanga Ward, Tunduru District said he was grateful for the support that the company has given to them, adding that since NALIKA was established in 2014 has never seen an Investor like Best Luxury Safaris Company since they had an agreement last year.
He said that the community wildlife conservation (NALIKA) has helped the number of elephants to increase and a decrease in poaching to its efforts to combat illegal hunting activities through Village Game Scouts (VGS) so they were pleased to have the Best Luxury Safaris Tourist Hunter Company to invest in their area.
On his part the chairperson for Ndenyende Village Issa Chiutula, One of the 10 Village beneficiaries of the Best Luxury Safaris Company thanked for the donation of Cement together with 59 Million Shillings hunting fee and his village has received two million and a half million shillings as share.
The Ward Councilor for Jakika Ward Aus Maulid said that the donation will help to repair the dilapidated School buildings in his ward and that it has come timely because most of the school buildings were in bad situation.
