MULTITUDES TURNOUT FOR CHADEMA THANKS GIVING MEETING

A massive sea of supporters of Chadema in Iringa urban constituency has turned out for rally of giving thanks to voters for electing them during the just ended local government elections held at Mwembetogwa grounds.

Chadema has called on a public meeting through its member parliament Rev. Peter Msigwa MP Iringa and Shadow Minister of Natural resources and Tourism which was intended to give thanks to the electorate who elected them during last Sunday civic polls.

Rev. Peter Msigwa MP for Iringa Urban said on Sunday that have decided to have a public meeting so they meet the voters and give them thanks for voting them during the just ended local government election.

He said that during the local government election the opposition (UKAWA) managed to scoop 66 streets out the total 192 streets of Iringa urban but the rest went ruling party CCM.

“We have started with only one street in 2009 but today we have 66 streets, that is 65 streets went to Chadema and one street went to CUF,” said Rev. Msigwa.

However, Rev. Msigwa leveled that elected local leaders must do their job diligently by serving the people who voted them by giving them free office services as they promise during the campaigns.

He added that people voted for you because they trusted you and so you must work for them by making sure that they see the different of leadership as compared to the previous ones.

The ruling party CCM performance in general has dropped. In 2009, CCM wrapped up 12,042 village and street seats but this year it has won only 9,406 seats.

The opposition manages to scoop 3,211 village and street seats in the just ended civic polls.

On other hand, Chadema has expressed concern whether President Jakaya Kikwete will fully execute the parliament resolutions on Tegeta Escrow account suspects.

Independent observers said Rev. Peter Msigwa MP Iringa and Shadow Minister of Natural resources and Tourism pulled biggest crowd ever before.

However, observers state that the turnout at the rally does not entail outright victory for candidate with biggest crowd but only improves previous performance.

According to the local government election coordinator and Chadema cadre Dady Igogo said they have crossed so many hurdles during the civic polls which marred with a lot irregularities and chaos.

He said last Sunday local government elections saw their secretary to Iringa urban MP Rev. Peter Msigwa, Joseph Mgina and other local party leaders been attacked by hooligans.

However, Chadema in Iringa during their political meeting on Sunday gave the police force seven days ultimatum to arrest all the culprits and bring them to book and urged failure to that they will enter on the street and look for them (culprits).

Other party leaders who attended the public meeting of thanking voters who voted their party including Chiku Abwao Chadema Special Seat, Chadema Iringa Urban Chairperson Frank Nyalusi, Chadema Chairperson for Iringa Region and others.

The elected local government leaders were be sworn yesterday by commissioner for oaths advocate Charles Paul Lawisso and at Welfare Conference Hall and later on will go for orientation to be taught on how to be good leaders.
