And somber atmosphere gripped National Heroes Stadium as a military cortege carrying the body of the President rolled into the stadium.

And in his sermon, Archbishop Telesphore Mpundu said President Michael Sata was undoubtedly the most experienced politician to have entered State House as President.

Bishop Mpundu says as for the legacy the late President has left, it will be up to historian to assess the impact he made on the Zambian people and nations in general.

He has encouraged young politicians to work hard and establish a track record of service to God’s people before aspiring to higher heights.

And Archbishop Mpundu has appealed to political leaders to unite the country by campaigning on ideas and not tribal lines.

Archbishop Mpundu notes that the presidential by-election race started with the demise of President Sata in not so quite a manner.

He says politicians should denounce all violence in any form and allow ideas fight for them during campaigns.

Archbishop Mpundu says for Zambia to develop, there is need for peace and unity first and foremost.
