POLICE in Iringa have arrested seven suspected men to engage in various incidents in the region here found with various items including fake American dollars banknotes and precious stones.
Speaking to journalists today, Iringa Region Police Commander Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Juma Bwire Makanya said they have arrested Emmanuel Mtweve, 41, Tabata's resident businessman in Dar es Salaam with 63 US dollars which were counterfeits.
ACP Bwire said that the suspect Mtweve was also arrested with counterfeit minerals worth 3.5 kilograms of gold after investigating inside his vehicle with registration number T 419 DLL Brevis.
He said that in the case they have arrested some other people were arrested to engage in various incidents including Abdallah Mohamed, 43, Madoto Mburahati's resident, Abukakari Mwamedi, 40, Mbarali, Mbeya, Seif Seleman, 37, Chanika's resident, Christopher Mgie, 37, Frank Lutanile and Abuu Mbinga all residents of Itamba Mbarali, Mbeya region.
The police also seized various items like five bundles papers for making fake money, a local safe, 19 different cellphones, five jujus (hirizi), rubber bands, four kilograms of counterfeit gold.
Police said all the suspects are in police custody and urged to pat attention of such kind of people.
In another development, Iringa Police force is looking for six (6) suspected criminals who invaded Fuad Faraji Abri, 25, a Iringa municipal resident of Iringa and a shot on the left leg.
ACP Bwire said the incident took place on 13/07/2014 at Wilolesi in Gangilonga Ward Iringa Municipality, Iringa region.
He said the criminals invaded in his home with hiding faces by using Masai clothing (vikoi vya masai) entering over the fence using two ladders who tied and a guard with the rope on the hands and then broke the door to the house for the purpose of steeling property.
Commander Bwire explained that the suspected criminal bullets shot two in the injured Abri on the left leg, the action that led to the exchange of fire on both sides and led the robbers to run from the scene.
