Micheal Ngilangwa [35] a teacher at Pomeline Seconday School in Kilolo District and Reverend for Evangelical Lutherna Church in Tanzania [Iringa Diocese] appeared in the Resident Magistrate Court of Iringa on Friday, over charges of demanding sexual favor from his female student [14].
According to the Prevention and Combating of Corruption [PCCB] Prosecutor, Imani Mitume before the Resident Magistrate, Marth Mpasya, Ngilangwa on or about 11th August, 2010 at Wihanzi Guest House within Iringa Municpal in Iringa Region did attempt to have carnal knowlwdge of his student aged 14 and form one student at Pomeline Secondary School without her consent.
“Micheal Ngilangwa being employed by Pomeline School and Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania Iringa Dioceses demanded favour from her student as a condition for giving her a previlage in English and divity subjects and preference treatment” the PCCB prosecutor told the court on Friday.
The accused denied all the charges and was returned to custody after he had failed to fulfill the bail conditions of promising to pay two million shillings [2m] and two sureties one should be a government employee and other should permanent resident residing in Iringa Municipality.
However, the criminal case No. 07 of 2010 verse Michael Ngilangwa will be brought to court again on 26th August, 2010.
Demanding sexual favour is contrary to section 25 of PCCB Act, No.11 of 2010 and attempting rape is contrary to section 132 of the Penal Code [CAP 16 R.E 2002]
