LUSAKA: POLICE yesterday detained a 21-year-old man of Matero East who was masquerading as a woman at a nightclub on Christmas Day in order to get free drinks from unsuspecting men.
According to witnesses, Wisk Sakala went to Clans Nightclub in Kabwata on Thursday dressed as a woman and took to the dance floor, wriggling seductively to capture the attention of the ‘opposite sex’. Sakala managed to catch the attention of some unsuspecting men, who took turns buying him beer, while others could not resist joining him on the dance floor.
Later, a named patron decided to take Sakala away to a lodge, where Sakala bolted before the man could make his intentions known. Yesterday around 11:00 hours, Sakala returned to the nightclub, where he put up the same act but as he danced vigorously, a curious spectator noticed something artificial about his breasts.
This prompted other patrons to undress him, at which point they discovered that the ‘seductress’ was in fact a man. The angry men apprehended Sakala and took him to Kabwata Police Station while he wailed uncontrollably.
Police deputy spokesperson Rae Hamoonga confirmed the incident and said officers were still looking for an appropriate charge to slap on Sakala.
“He was pretending to be a lady and then the [men] were buying him beers, so later on I’m sure they decided to go somewhere and they discovered that he was a man. Some people took him to Kabwata Police Station. We are yet to decide what to charge him with,” said Hamoonga.
