IRINGA: Iringa regional police are holding a witch doctor on suspicion of the murder of a four- year –old child (name withheld) Semtema Kihesa area in the municipality of Iringa, Iringa region.
The traditional healer known by the names of Peter Mtuka (44), a resident of Sumbawanga was arrested by police after body was found near his area where he do his job for interrogation.
Acting Iringa Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), John Kauga said the incident occurred at around 01:30 hrs after mid night on October 26 this year.
Telling a child's disappearance, acting commander said that on October 25 this year, child was playing with her friends in the neighborhoods at around 08:30hrs and 09:00hrs morning, when she disappeared in mysterious circumstances.
And then at 10:00hrs in the morning the mother of the child Monica Msani went to central police station delivery information about the disappearance of her child.
Acting police commander said after the parents and neighbors continued to search for the child, they managed to find child in the dilapidated house at around as 7:30 but already dead nearby the traditional healer place where he conduct his healing activities..
Kauga further stated that after the body was found, they (parents and neighbors) reported matter to the police station and later on the body was pickup and took sent to Iringa Referral Hospital for postmortem.
According to the hospital report, indicated that child died from after rape, sodomized and squeezed her neck to death.
Moreover, Acting commander added that apart from getting entangled or choked tests also showed the child was raped and sodomized by unknown person or persons.
Police said they are holding a traditional healer in connection of death of the child because the body was found nearby the medicine-man’s place where he conduct his activities and link to superstition.
