ACCESS BANK DISHES OUT 515 LOANS TO FARMERS IN IRINGA

ACCESS BANK Tanzania (ABT) has launched its new branch in Iringa last week while providing 515 loans worth more than Sh 982 million for some of the region's farmers, to increase productivity in the agricultural sector.



This is 13th branch to be launched since its inception in the country, and was grace by the Iringa Regional Commissioner (RC), Amina Masenza at a ceremony attended by leaders and stakeholders of the financial sector in Iringa.



Head of business development of the bank, Andrea Ottina said the opening of the bank's branch in Iringa is evidence of their sincere commitment to providing excellent service to their customers in the country.



"In addition to providing excellent service to our customers, we will seek for our services on time with ease strengthening of banking services," he said.



Ottina said Iringa is among the fastest growing regions in the country due to the availability of many attractions, investment and production of food products trading.


He added that through this branch, said farmers and entrepreneurs of Iringa region will benefit from the banking services.


He said the bank will continue to expand its services to reach a large part of customers across the country, as well as introduce new products and ways to access services.


"These methods are such as banking services via mobile phone and banking agencies who have been targeted more in rural and urban areas as well," he said.


RC Masenza was the guest of honour praised the bank to increase the ease of access to quality financial services in the region of Iringa.


"I urge farmers and entrepreneurs, both small and large traders take advantage of the services offered by this bank as an opportunity to develop your agricultural operations and businesses," she said.


She said the banking sector is essential to the development of the nation as it is enabling investment that can make a difference for individuals and the nation as a whole.


"My wish is to see you continue to provide services shall have an influence, you should not be part of those who are abusing citizens in the provision of financial services," she said.


Initially, Manager of AccessBank branch in Iringa, Frederick Masungwa said the bank began offering its financial services in the region, in July this year and up to November this year had more than 3,000 customers.

Masungwa said the bank provide services to various accounts including savings, group, checks, deposits, strategies, students, traders; and also provides services to send money domestically and abroad and ATM services through Union Switch.

He said since they began offering these services, over the last six months in Iringa have received more than 3,000 customers.


AccessBank Tanzania is a financial institution aimed at providing banking services to small and medium entrepreneurs through its international shareholders who are AccessHolding, International Finance Corporation, African Development Bank and MicroVest
