IRINGA: Iringa Regional Commissioner (RC) Amina Masenza has asked all contractors to work on the basis of the scheduled time and never forget to consider quality standards.
She said that the Government will not tolerate any contractor who will work under the scheduled period of the Agreement, but would not tolerate the contractor who would work under standards.
RC Masenza made the appeal yesterday when witnessing an event of signing contracts for road construction projects between the Rural and Urban Rural Agency (TARURA) in Iringa Region for the financial year 2017/2018.
She said that in ensuring the effectiveness of the work and the quality required, the Government has hired TARURA Managers in each of the councils.
"The main responsibility of these managers is to manage contractors to carry out their duties. So, the Council Manager is also responsible for ensuring the quality and value for money, "she said.
She said there has been a challenge for contractors and many challenges have been caused by negligence not meeting the required obligations.
Masenza said they hope that those contractors will be paid after they have fulfilled their obligations, have reached the criteria for quality in accordance with the contracts, adding that the implementation will increase their effectiveness and also eliminate unnecessary complaints to the Government.
"I am commissioning the TARURA Regional Coordinator to coordinate and coordinate all construction and rehabilitation activities, including managing the TARURA Managing Managers to carry out their duties and contractors to carry out their obligations in accordance with the Agreements," she said.
But she also asked the TARURA Regional Coordinator to set up a good order to report contractors who would not be able to go with the speed of the fifth government of the President, Dr. John Magufuli and those who will mess up the job that their information can be submitted to the relevant authorities and eventually be taken in accordance with the laws of the country and may not be re-assigned to the construction work.
"Take this opportunity again to congratulate contractors who won the construction bids and signed road construction contracts for the 2017/2018 financial year in the Iringa region. I hope patriotism for the country will be put forward in the broad interest of Tanzania and the development of our country, "said Masenza.
