A TOTAL OF 4,313 STUDENTS HAVE SCORED DIVISION ZERO IN RUVUMA REGION

MEETING IN PROGRESS

By Friday Simbaya, Songea
TANZANIA Heads of Secondary Schools Association (TAHOSSA) Regional Chairperson, Fr. John Chrysostom OSB has urged heads of schools in the region to look presentable by dressing well because the inner person represents the outer person.
He said that personality to heads of schools is crucial to them because as a teacher you should not be dressing anyhow. “How someone dresses reflects his/her character,” he added.
The chairperson made the statement during a two-day meeting held at Peramiho, Songea District in Ruvuma Region which started on 27th -28th February, 2014.
He noted that there some heads of secondary schools in the region who are poorly dressed especially when they are attending various meetings.
“It is a duty of the head of school to dress nicely during his/her official duties but to refrain from dressing like a soccer player by wearing a jersey in office. It is very disappointing to find a head of school dressed like somebody else which makes difficulty for people to differentiate a mere teacher and the head of school. The headmaster/headmistress   should always look smart but not just when he/she is attending a meeting,” he noted.
TAHOSSA Ruvuma is composed of six districts namely Songea Rural, Songea Urban, Namtumbo, Mbinga, Tunduru and Nyasa and a total number of 172 members.
Also other TAHOSSA regional leaders include the Vice chairperson, John Sweke, Secretary, Ephigenia Nzota, Treasurer, Lucida Msabila and  the zonal chairperson Ponsiano Ndunguru were among the delegation who attended the meeting.
According to the TAHOSSA vice Secretary of Ruvuma Region, Raymond Chengula, the theme of meeting was to discuss both administrative and academic issues. Other administrative issues discussed during the meeting were regional education officer report, the implementation of ‘Big Results Now’ commonly known as (BRN) and proper way of using capitation grant.
On the issues of academic, the vice secretary said; they touched also on mock examination arrangements and other exams, subject seminars and form II and IV results analysis.
However, Ruvuma region has a total of 113 secondary schools government, no government and seminaries. As usual the religious owned schools in the region have protruded during the last years form IV results 2013 and were among the best ten schools in the region.
The first best secondary school regional wise was Peramiho Girls of Missionary Benedictine Sisters of Tutzing in Songea Rural District, the second position was Hanga Seminary of African Benedictines in Namtumbo District, the third position went to  Stella Matutina Secondary School in Namtumbo District, the fourth went to  De Paul Secondary School in Songea Municipal, St. Agnes of Chipole in  Mbinga got the  fifth position, St. Augustine  sixth position and seventh position went to St. Benedict of Namtumbo District and the rest were government ones including Songea Boys, Mkinga and Taifa Foundation in Songea Urban.
